House Rules
Operator: Na Malém Háji s.r.o., Company ID (IČ) 10917721, registered office Malý Háj 340, 435 46 Hora Svaté Kateřiny, Czech Republic.
Na Malém Háji offers two separate units — the Meadow House (Na Louce) and the Forest House (U Lesa), each with its own character. These House Rules apply to both houses; points that apply to only one of them are clearly marked.
These House Rules form an integral part of the accommodation contract and of the Terms and Conditions of Na Malém Háji. By entering and using the accommodation, guests agree to these House Rules.
This is a translation of the Czech version. In the event of any discrepancy, the Czech version prevails.
1. Arrival and departure
Check-in is possible from 15:00, check-out is by 10:00 at the latest. Other times must be agreed in advance by e-mail.
On arrival, guests must show an identity document (in line with the accommodation provider's legal registration obligation) and state the actual number of guests staying.
Only the number of people stated in the confirmed booking may stay in the unit. Additional, undeclared guests may only stay after prior agreement with the operator.
Detailed practical information (directions, map, overview of equipment) is sent to guests by e-mail before and after arrival.
2. Quiet and respect for nature
We ask guests to keep quiet between 22:00 and 07:00. Na Malém Háji lies in the heart of nature, and after dark the wildlife around it comes to life — by being quiet and considerate at night, you give it the same peace we wish for you.
Na Malém Háji is a dark-sky location — we ask guests to keep outdoor artificial lighting after dark to what is strictly necessary.
The surrounding forests are part of a hunting ground where hunters occasionally move about. To be safe, we therefore recommend not going into the surrounding forests, especially after dark, and staying in the immediate vicinity of the unit.
3. Animals and the meadow
Dogs and other animals are welcome for a surcharge of 500 CZK per stay (see Terms and Conditions, point 3.3) and must be declared when booking.
An animal must not be left unattended anywhere it could cause damage or disturb the peace of the surrounding nature, and must be under its owner's control outside the unit.
Meadow House only From May to October we share the adjoining meadow with cows from Farma Kateřina (Eco Farm of the Year 2022) — on the pasture you will only meet mother cows with their calves, peaceful and used to kind handling, who mostly seek their own privacy. If they come closer, keep in mind that they have their calves with them and will defend them — this applies above all to dogs. Keep your four-legged companion close at all times, walk them at heel when crossing the meadow, and carry bolder characters or keep them on a lead. For anything concerning the cows you can contact the farmers directly — you will find their contact details on the Farma Kateřina website.
Meadow House only During the season when the pasture is shared with the cows, you pass through a cattle fence on your way to the unit (an electric fence, with the entrance by the path roughly level with the house). The fence must be closed completely behind you straight away — even a fence left open for a moment is a problem, as cows are, despite appearances, very fast. When closing it, check that the fence tapes are not crossed — in that state the cows could find a way out.
4. Fire, heating, sauna and safety
Open fires and barbecuing are only permitted on the outdoor grill that is part of the tiny house's equipment. You will find wood for the grill and the stove in the woodshed on the terrace in front of the unit, in sufficient quantity for your stay. This applies to both houses.
The interior of the tiny house and the Finnish sauna are heated by a shared dual-function stove (heating both the living space and the sauna) — the same in both houses. There is no written operating manual yet, so please follow the rules in points 4.3–4.4 and the caretaker's instructions on arrival.
Never leave the stove burning unattended, keep flammable materials (textiles, wood, paper) at a safe distance, and make sure the room is well ventilated while it is in use.
Ashes from the fireplace and stove belong only in the designated ash bin, where they must be left to cool completely, or they can be doused with water. Only then may the ashes be moved to the compost.
Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the tiny house.
Guests must follow fire safety rules, particularly given the location in wooded mountain terrain and the presence of open fire and wood heating.
5. Toilet
Meadow House only The unit has a chemical toilet with an 18-litre tank, which usually lasts 2–3 nights.
Meadow House only Monitor the tank level using the indicator lights next to the flush button: 1 green light = tank empty, 2 green lights = tank half full, 1 red light = tank full. Please also check it visually — the technology is not always one hundred per cent reliable.
Meadow House only If the red light comes on or the tank seems full to you, please contact the caretaker immediately (see point 13). The tank needs to be replaced before it reaches full capacity — a spare cassette is available, replacing it is easy, and the caretaker will be glad to help or talk you through it.
Forest House only The unit has a Separett Tiny separating toilet, which works without water and separates liquid and solid waste. Please use it sitting down, gentlemen included — that is the only way the waste is separated properly.
Forest House only Only toilet paper goes into the toilet; please do not throw in wet wipes, sanitary products or any other waste. If the container seems full or you are unsure about anything, please contact the caretaker (see point 13).
6. Caring for the interior
The interior of the unit is largely handmade from wood and likes neither too much heat (e.g. a candle without a holder) nor too much water (around the taps, on the floor). Please use a holder under candles and wipe up spilled water with a paper towel or cloth — this helps keep the unit in good condition for other guests too.
7. Waste and nature
We sort our waste. For organic waste there is a special container under the sink in the unit; there is a compost heap near the tiny house. An overview of what can be composted and instructions for sorting other waste are available on site.
Na Malém Háji is set in a natural environment — we ask guests to respect the surrounding wildlife and plants; picking or damaging plants and disturbing animals in the area is not permitted.
8. Parking
Parking is available at the designated spot for each unit: for the Meadow House about 300 m from the house, on the paved area at the meeting point; for the Forest House about 100 m from the house. Please park so as not to block other vehicles. You will receive exact directions and a map by e-mail before arrival.
Meadow House only For unloading on arrival and loading on departure you can drive along the field track closer to the unit. Park at the side of the track so as not to block it, and after loading or unloading drive back the same way to the paved car park — the track is not passable further on. Please keep parking on the field track to the minimum necessary, 15 minutes at most. We do not recommend this track for low-slung cars.
9. Honest bar
The unit has an honest bar (drinks on a trust basis) — the current selection and prices are shown on site. Please pay for what you have used in cash on the table when you leave, or arrange a bank transfer with the caretaker (see Terms and Conditions, point 3.2).
10. Damage and liability
Guests are liable for any damage to the operator's property caused by them or by people for whom they are responsible (including children and animals).
Guests must report any defect or damage to the operator without delay.
The operator is not liable for damage to items brought in by guests, with the exception of money, jewellery and other valuables, which it does not accept for safekeeping (see Terms and Conditions, point 3.5).
11. Wi-Fi and equipment
Wi-Fi is available to guests free of charge and without a password.
In the kitchen you will find a frying pan, 2 pots, a moka pot, a French press, a teapot, mugs, wine glasses, cutlery, plates, bowls, a corkscrew, a potato peeler and a colander. Basic ingredients are provided: Kampot pepper and salt from .pepper..field, cane sugar, coffee (100% Arabica for hand grinding), Japanese Sencha green tea and Sedmikvítek herbal tea by Grešík, Italian cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, honey from a beekeeper in nearby Hora Svaté Kateřiny, and ghee. In the fridge you will find eggs from the Kateřina farm. Organic toiletries are provided in the bathroom. In front of the unit there is a terrace with seating, loungers, a grill and a woodshed with enough wood for your stay.
The nearest shop is about 20 km away — we recommend doing your main shopping and buying your favourite treats before arrival.
12. Breach of the House Rules
A serious breach of these House Rules is considered a serious breach of obligations under the Terms and Conditions (point 4.1) and may lead to the immediate termination of the stay without refund.
13. Contact
